This is a true staple in Merida and it’s important to go during non-peak hours – this place is cheap and one of the best so there are usually lines out the door. There are multiple locations so you can choose the one closest to you. I witnessed the male staff bullying one of the female waitresses. They forgot one of our orders and when we reminded them they acted rude towards us. Service not so good, had to continuously ask the server for basic things like plates and spoons.

You’ve got stalls selling burgers, burritos, el mejor japonés de Mérida pizza, fish tacos, and so much more. Casa Maya is similar to La Chaya Maya as they both serve Yucatecan cuisine and it’s a great alternative if you’ve had enough of La Chaya Maya.

There’s often live music and dancing, and all the restaurants open — transforming this unassuming park into the perfect place to enjoy dinner al fresco, listen to music and people-watch. From the menu, we love the Tan Tan Men, as well as the breaded pork, the meat with rice and ginger, and the bacon . I’m not sure why there are a few bad reviews (details weren’t added), but we thought it was amazing. The staff were lovely, the menu was varied with great options. Even after all the yummy Mexican tacos, we crave sushi from time to time!
In the last few years, Merida has become one of the most popular Mexico destinations, and tourism has increased.
