There are also direct buses to the airport from Taichung bus station, just north of the TRA train station in the city center. Spend your first 3-4 day in Taipei, including one or two days for a day trip out of the city. They exact number of nights you spend in Taipei might depend on what time you arrive on Day 1. The relative isolation of the island has allowed the Tao people to preserve their language and traditions better than other indigenous groups on mainland Taiwan. Fishing rituals are observed religiously especially during the flying fish season from February to June.
The goats could often be seen perched precariously on jagged coral bluffs staring pensively at the sea, or hugging the cliffs of the mountainous interior borderline the round-island road. Seeing them standing in the most awkward of spots added a touch of amusement to our travels around the island . We were more impressed by Rover Café (蘭嶼旅人) between Yuren and Hongtou Villages on the coastal side of the road and overlooking expansive Badai Beach. The beanbag chairs and hammocks are as close as you’ll get to a Southeast Asian vibe on Orchid Island. The menu features yummy fruit smoothies, a range of cocktails, and a handful of Western/Asian dishes. One street off the main road in Yuren, you can also find Epicurean Pub (無餓不坐風味餐坊).

So instead, go back to Taipei by HSR then express train to Hualien . If you have time in your schedule, it’s better to spend a night in Hualien, but if your schedule is tight, then a day trip from taipei works too. It’s very easy to do Jiufen and Keelung as a day trip from taipei. Many people do Shifen Waterfall, Jiufen, then finish at Keelung Night Market for dinner and train back to Taipei.
