Council officers note the Panel’s advice, but recommend proceeding with the Planning Proposal with the amendments proposed as outlined above. The proposal has strategic merit and, subject to changes discussed in this report, can also demonstrate sufficient site-specific merit, while also contributing to new housing and jobs in the Inner West in a well-serviced location. This report recommends the Planning Proposal, and the  supporting Urban Design Report and draft site-specific DCP be updated. The planning/design phase for anew kitchen is in progress with the design intention to better support cateringrelated to events and functions at the cottage. The Aprilmeeting resolution called for an alternate design to the kitchen that includedthe removal of the hot water system and use of the space to extend the usablearea to the kitchen. High levelproject estimates for this scope and design are approximately $730,000, withadditional funds needed for the existing park demolition. In line with theprevious recommendation made by Council for July to be free of meetings, thereare no meetings planned for July 2025. The Council decidesits meeting schedule ahead of the next calendar year. Meeting dates arethen published, which is a requirement of the Local Government OfficialInformation and Meetings Act. For the Council to approve the schedule of Council and Committee meetings for the period January to December 2025. Producingthis report is a legislative requirement and the Dog Control Act does notinclude any climate change provisions.
In 2018, this Council voted to endorse ICAN’s Citiesappeal, a call from councils all over the world for their governments toendorse this Treaty. We were joined by a number of other councils in this call,including the City of Sydney and Newcastle. The Treaty entered into force in2021 and in that same year, a motion in support of the Treaty waspassed unanimously at the ALGA National General Assembly in Canberra.

A tenant barbeque is being hostedby Homes NSW in Cahill Place, Marrickville in July and Inner West staff willattend to educate and engage tenants about garbage, recycling and clean upservices. That Council acknowledges that Inner West Council staff have taken steps,including waste removal when notified, increased monitoring of dumpinghotspots, and increased bin provision and bin collection to support residentsof the properties. B)   Receivea report in June 2025 on ongoing engagement with Homes NSW to improve wastemanagement, and thereafter twice yearly (March 2025). Community engagement has been completed and a project plan developed to deliver a safer, well lit, active and more vibrant precinct that runs along Sydenham Rd, between Victoria Rd and Sydenham Station.
